BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SUSAN G KOMEN 3-DAY WALK: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2015

In 2000, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and she asked me to walk with her in the Susan G Komen 3-day walk from SB to Malibu. We met a group of women that later became the HK Belles named after my mother. HK was my mom’s nickname and her initials, Helen Katherine. I walked with the group for seven years. A couple HK Belles continued walking for 15 years from 2000-2015.

BRAIN CANCER

My brother, Peter Maile, was diagnosed with GBM Brain cancer in October 2004 and passed on August 8, 2005. Our family and friends held fundraisers for my brother’s medical treatments and continue to support brain cancer patients.
